Sam Archer was born Novmber 4, 1857 to Thomas Archer and Jane Wolfington.  Sam had nine other siblings. Sam's siblings were:

Sam would be the last Archer to be hung for the murder of Sam Bunch.  Sam was convicted for his part in the murder (due to testimony from John Lynch and Dave Crane).  Sam would be executed in July 9, 1886 at Shoals, Indiana.

Many of Sam's siblings would also lead a tragic life of crime; John would be hung at Shoals in March 1886, Little Mart was murdered over monies collected from crime, Andrew was incarcerated within the Indiana prison for larceny when his brother was lynched, and Albert was in Reform School when his father and brother were hung.
